No One Expects a Phoenix - Original

$450.00

This painting holds a special place in my heart. It was New Year’s Eve 2020 and I was feeling quite introspective, so I stayed home listening to Manchester Orchestra and began painting with whatever colors seemed right. It was a kind of ritual, it seemed, to find intention for the looming year. I walked away to refill my teacup, and returned to my piece only to find there was the unfurling blue flame of a phoenix. “No one expects a Phoenix, I guess.” I said to myself. Little did I know that I was soon to watch my past life find an unexpected end, and come out on the other side with a clear and full awareness of the resilience of the human spirit.
